E3D is the most innovative 3D printer hotend builder of the moment. With the recently released E3D Rapidchange Revo, it has developed a brand new system in-house that is faster, lighter and more compact than the current V6.

Advantages of E3D parts

E3D is characterized by the excellent price/quality ratio that it offers on its components and the fact that they work open-source certainly contributes to this. E3D is now the main supplier of hot-end parts from Prusa Research up to and including the Prusa MK3S+ and offers many upgrade kits for Creality 3D printers, among others. Lulzbot, Ultimaker, Modix and BCN3D are also major 3D printer makers associated with E3D for quality, price and availability. They develop everything in-house. In the past, E3D has also designed a complete motion system called Toolchanger. This open-source platform was created to allow different tools to talk to each other on one platform, which can consist of 3D printer parts but also CNC machines or engraving equipment.

Buy E3D hotends

Over the years, E3D has developed many complete hotends for 3D printers. This consisted of passively cooled units, but water-cooled 3D printer hotends were also possible. The list has now grown to:

  • E3D Chimera
  • E3D Cyclops
  • E3D V6
  • E3D Lite6
  • E3D (Super)Volcano
  • E3D V6 Gold Edition
  • E3D Hemera
  • E3D Rapidchange Revo

The Rapidchange Revo ensures that a nozzle can be changed in less than a minute. This means that the nozzle is integrated into the heat break and the heater is integrated with the thermistor, for an even more compact operation.

Buy E3D nozzle

In addition to the newly released Rapidchange Revo, it also has classic nozzles that are installed on a large number of 3D printers. The following nozzles are available with the corresponding flow rates:

  • E3D V6 nozzle --> 10 mm3/sec
  • E3D Volcano nozzle --> 40 mm3/sec
  • E3D SuperVolcano nozzle --> 70 mm3/sec

The advantages of the V6 are that it is compact and widely used. This will be enough for 95% of the 3D printers to make 3D prints as desired. For the SuperVolcano it will mainly be interesting to print with nozzles larger than 1.0 mm in diameter. Lower layer heights than 0.4 mm are a shame for this installation.
