ASA is perfectly suited for applications that need to be able to withstand a blow, can be used outdoors and must be able to withstand the elements.

What is the difference between ABS and ASA 3D printer filament?

ABS and ASA are almost exactly the same 3D printer filament, except for one big difference. This difference is that ASA can be used outdoors, and with ABS this is often not a good plan due to UV radiation to which the object is exposed.

Does your 3D printer need to be in an enclosure to print ASA?

Yes and no. The larger the object, the greater the chance that an enclosure will help you get a well-bonded, stable print. If there is no casing it may shrink slightly and not adhere properly.
